Some products, like membership dues, are offered, instead of required, to accounts, allowing them to select the membership they prefer. In this situation, we can build a product using the Show in the Show / Hide / Require Rules to offer a product to an account.
This tutorial walks you through setting up product visibility and show rules based on criteria like account type or payment status.
Use Case Example: Offering Family Membership Dues for Offered Membership Accounts
We’ll walk through how to offer a Family Membership Dues product for members with an Offered Membership account type.
1. Select the Product to Edit
Go to your Products list and choose the product you want to apply rules to (e.g., Family Membership Dues).
This product should have the Fee Type set to Membership Fee.
2. Edit Product Rules
Click Edit on the product.
Scroll down to the Show/Hide/Require Rules section.
Click Apply Rules checkbox
Under “Apply Rules,” choose Show since this is an offered product.
4. Add Account Type Rule
Click Add Rule.
Set the Rule Type to Account Type
Set the Comparison to Is
Set the field to Offered Membership
This means the product will be offered for accounts that are currently a Family Membership account type.
Set the Next Rule Relationship to And
Note: If not adding another rule, leave Next Rule Relationship blank.
5. Add Payment Status Rule
Click Add Rule.
Set the Rule Type to Payment Status
Set the Comparison to Is
Set the Field to Unpaid
Now this means the product will be offered for accounts that are Offered Membership account type AND are Unpaid payment status.
6. Save the product
Scroll up to the top of the product settings and select Update.
