Per Member Pricing charges an account for each member it pays for, instead of one flat price per account. For the basics of building any product, see the Add a New Product overview (Flat Rate Pricing).
Per Member Pricing Example
In this example we charge members based on the number of people on their account.
Go to Finances > Products and click the Add New tab.
Enter the Name (as it will appear on the account's bill).
Enter the Description. We recommend: "Click on the checkbox on the right to select this membership type."
Set the Fee Type to Membership Fee.
Choose the Pricing Option
Member Splash offers several pricing options: Flat Rate, Per Member, Age & Member Type Based, House Guest, and User Defined. Since this example charges per member, use the Per Member Pricing section.
IMPORTANT: Choose only one pricing option for a product. Do not enter values in more than one pricing section (for example, Flat Rate and Per Member). Pick one method (Flat Rate, Per Member, Age & Member Type, House Guest, or User Defined) and leave the others blank.
Set Up Per Member Pricing
In the Per Member Pricing section, check Enable per member pricing.
Choose who must be paid for:
Require All: everyone on the account must be paid for.
Require Billing Contact: the billing contact (primary member) must be paid for; other members are optional.
Leave both unchecked to let members choose who to pay for, with no one required (not used at most clubs). This is handy for clubs with many college-age members who may not be around during the summer.
Restrict By Member Type (optional): if you select member types, only account members of those types are shown for this charge. If none are selected, all account members are shown. For example, show the charge only for children.
Under Prices, add a row for each Member # and enter its Price. The first person is charged the Member #1 price, the second the Member #2 price, and so on.
You can skip numbers: members between two rows are charged the earlier row's price.
The last price you set is used for every member beyond that number.
To cap the total, add a final row with a price of $0. Example: Member #1 is $150, Members #2 and #3 are $100, and Member #4 is $0. The total never goes above $350, no matter how many members are added.
NOTE: Price Variations do not apply to per member pricing.
Show the Product and Publish
Scroll down to Show / Hide / Require Rules, check Apply Rules, and set Rule Action to Show.
Save the product as a draft to use later, or publish it to start billing.
Notes
The Require rule action is not needed here, because who must pay is set in the Per Member Pricing section.
The description tells the member to "Click on the checkbox on the right to select this membership type."
Because the Fee Type is Membership Fee, members stay Unpaid until this fee is paid, so they can't skip it.
Advanced Per Member Pricing Example
Per Member Pricing can be used for charges other than membership fees. Restrict By Member Type lets you build products that show only for the member types you choose (for example, only Seniors).
The classic example is a swim team fee that should only be shown for the children on the account.
Only the children appear, and the member selects which children to pay for to join the swim team.
