Step 1: Create a New Product
Navigate to Products > Add New from the left WordPress menu.
Product Details:
Name: Enter how this will appear on the member's bill (e.g., "2026 Membership Dues")
Description: We recommend: "Click the checkbox on the right to select this membership type."
List the costs for each age group or member type so members know what to expect
Fee Type: Set to Membership Fee
Step 2: Choose Your Pricing Method
Member Splash offers several pricing options:
Flat Rate
Per Member
Age & Member Type Based
House Guest
User Defined
For this example, we'll use Age & Member Type pricing.
⚠️ IMPORTANT: Choose only ONE pricing method per product. Do not enter values in multiple pricing sections (e.g., don't fill out both Flat Rate AND Per Member). Pick one method and leave the others blank.
Step 3: Enable Age & Member Type Pricing
Check the box to enable Age / Member Type Pricing
Use this when the price depends on the member's age OR member type (Adult, Child, Senior, etc.)
Optional: Require All Members
Check Require All if you want to require payment for all members on the account
When unchecked, members can choose which household members to register
Step 4: Configure Date of Birth Requirements
Select which member types must have a date of birth entered before they can be registered. Example: If you select "Child," all children on an account must have a date of birth entered before the account can proceed with payment. Members will be alerted if required date of birth information is missing. 💡 The member type list shown will include all your currently configured member types.
It will appear like this when checking out with a missing birthdate:
🚨Recommended: When using age-based pricing, we recommend also requiring date of birth in Member Splash Settings.
Step 5: Set Up Price Variations
For each price variation, enter either the age range OR the member type and price.
Best Practice: Choose Age-Based OR Member Type-Based
We recommend using one method or the other, but not both.
Use Age-Based pricing when:
Members might age out of a category
Example: 0-2 years old are free, 3-17 yrs is $45, 18+ is $100
Use Member Type-Based pricing when:
Pricing is consistent regardless of age within that type
Example: All Adults are $500, all Children are $150
