What is a Hyperlink?
A hyperlink (or link) is clickable text that takes visitors to another page, website, or file when clicked. Hyperlinked text typically appears underlined and in a different color.
Method 1: Text Block Element (Most Common)
Open your page in Avia Layout Builder
Add or edit a Text Block element
In the text editor, highlight the text you want to turn into a link
Click the chain link icon in the toolbar
In the popup window:
URL: Enter the web address (e.g., https://www.example.com)
Title: Optional tooltip text that appears when hovering
Open link in a new window: Check this for external sites
Click Insert
Click Save on the Text Block element
Update the page
Method 2: Button Element
For prominent call-to-action links, use the Button element:
In Avia Layout Builder, add a Button element
Configure the button:
Button Label: Enter the text to display
Button Link: Enter the URL or select a page
Open in new window: Choose yes for external links
Choose your button style and size
Click Save
Update the page
Method 3: Special Heading Element
To make heading text clickable:
Add or edit a Special Heading element
Enter your heading text
Scroll to Link Settings
Apply link: Select "Manually"
Link: Enter the URL
Click Save
Update the page
Link Best Practices
Check links before publishing - Preview your page and test all links
Use full URLs for external sites - Always include https:// at the beginning
Example: https://www.membersplash.com
Open external links in new windows - Check the "Open link in a new window" option for external sites to keep visitors on your site
Common Link Types
Link to another page on your site:
Start typing the page name and select it from the dropdown, or paste the page URL
Link to a website:
Enter the full URL: https://www.example.com
Link to an email address:
Enter: mailto:[email protected]
Link to a phone number:
Enter: tel:123-456-7890
Link to a document:
Upload the document to your Media Library first
Copy the file URL and paste it as your link
Troubleshooting
My link doesn't work
Make sure the URL includes https:// at the beginning
Check for typos in the URL
Click "Update" to save your page changes
Clear your browser cache and test the link
I can't find the link icon in the text editor
Make sure you're editing a Text Block element (not a code block)
Highlight the text first before looking for the link icon
The link icon looks like a chain link in the editor toolbar
The link color doesn't match my site
Link colors are controlled by your Enfold theme settings
