How to Add a Payment Feed to Your Form

A payment feed is required for all forms accepting payment. Customers will not be charged if a payment feed is not properly configured.

A payment feed connects a form to ECRYPT, your payment processor, so that payments entered on the form are actually charged. Without a payment feed the form still displays and submits, but no payment is charged. This is the most common reason payment forms don't work.

What a Payment Feed Does

Without a payment feed:

  • The form displays normally.

  • Users can fill it out and click submit.

  • No payment is processed, so you don't receive any money.

With a payment feed:

  • Each submission triggers payment processing through ECRYPT.

  • Funds are deposited to your bank account.

  • You receive payment confirmations.

Before You Begin

Your form must already have these fields:

  • Product: what is being purchased

  • Total: calculates the amount to charge

  • Email: required for payment processing and receipts

  • Credit Card or ACH: collects the payment information

Step 1: Add the Payment Field

  • Go to Content > Gravity Forms > Forms and open your form in the form editor.

  • Click Pricing Fields in the right sidebar.

  • Drag the Credit Card field onto your form.

  • Click the Credit Card field to open its settings, scroll to Rules, and check Required.

  • Click outside the field to save.

Step 2: Create the ECRYPT Payment Feed

This is the step that makes payments actually work.

  • While editing your form, click the Settings tab at the top.

  • Select ECRYPT Payments from the left menu.

  • Click Add New to create a new payment feed.

Configure the Feed Settings

  • Feed Name: use the default or a descriptive name, such as "Swim Lesson Payment".

  • Transaction Type: select One Time Payment.

  • Payment Method: select Credit Card. For ACH options, see Adding Multiple Payment Types to a Form.

  • Payment Amount: leave this set to Form Total (the default). This tells ECRYPT to charge whatever the Total field calculates.

  • ECRYPT Payment Token: leave this set to "Select a Field". Do not change this setting.

  • Billing Details: map your form's Email field to the Email Address field. This is required. You can also map address fields if your form collects them.

  • Conditional Logic (advanced, skip if unsure): only use this if your form accepts multiple payment types. It controls when the feed runs. Most forms should leave it blank.

  • Click Save Settings at the bottom.

Step 3: Test Your Payment Feed

Note: Always test before releasing the form to members.

  • Save your form and go to the page where it is displayed.

  • Fill out the form with test information and a real credit card (you can refund it right after).

  • Submit the form and check that:

    • The payment processes successfully.

    • You receive a confirmation email.

    • The charge appears in your ECRYPT dashboard.

    • The form confirmation message displays correctly.

  • Refund the test charge from your ECRYPT dashboard.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a payment feed for every form that collects payment?

Yes. Each form that processes payments needs its own payment feed. You cannot reuse a feed from another form.

What happens if I forget to set up the payment feed?

The form appears to work, but no payment is processed. On the Content > Gravity Forms > Forms list, the Payment Indicators column shows a warning icon (Payment Feed Missing) on any form that has a Total, Credit Card, or ACH field but no payment feed for your gateway.

Can I have multiple payment feeds on one form?

Yes. Advanced users can set up multiple feeds with conditional logic to route payments based on form selections. Most forms only need one feed.

My form was working but payments stopped. What happened?

Check the payment feed settings. If someone edited the form and deleted a required field (Product, Total, Email, or Credit Card), the feed stops working. Re-add any missing fields and confirm the feed is still active.

Do I need a different feed for credit cards and ACH?

To accept both, you can create two separate feeds or use the multiple payment types feature. See Adding Multiple Payment Types to a Form.

Troubleshooting

I don't see "ECRYPT Payments" in the form Settings menu

  • Contact Member Splash support. Your ECRYPT integration may not be activated yet.

Payments aren't going through

  • Is the payment feed saved? (Click Save Settings at the bottom.)

  • Does the form have all four required fields (Product, Total, Email, Credit Card)?

  • Is the Email field mapped under Billing Details?

  • Is your ECRYPT account active and approved?

Submissions are created but no payment is charged

This is the classic sign of a missing or misconfigured feed. Open the form, go to Settings > ECRYPT Payments, and confirm:

  • A feed exists and is saved.

  • Transaction Type is One Time Payment.

  • Payment Amount is Form Total.

  • The Email field is mapped under Billing Details.

I see an error message when creating a feed

  • If the message says ECRYPT is not configured, contact Member Splash support. Your site's ECRYPT integration must be set up before you can create payment feeds.

Note: Always test and make sure the form and feeds are set up correctly before releasing the form to your members.
