Understanding and Managing Fee Types
Every time you create a product in Member Splash, you must assign it a Fee Type. Fee Types serve two main purposes:
Functional Fee Types
Certain Fee Types—such as Guest Fee, House Guest Fee, and Membership Fee—are required for system functionality. These are hard-coded to trigger specific system behaviors and must be used appropriately. More on that is here: Start Here: Fee Types - Use and ImportanceCustom Reporting Categories
You can also create additional Fee Types to group products into broad categories. These are especially helpful for reporting purposes and allow you to organize financial data more meaningfully.
How to Add a New Fee Type
To create a new Fee Type:
Navigate to the WordPress Menu > Products> Fee Types section.
Click Add New.
Enter a clear, descriptive name.
(Optional) Add a Description that will display on member invoices. The Fee Type Description is what members will see on their invoice under the Fee Type name. Below that will be the Product Name(s) and associated Description(s), if applicable. To display a description, simply enter the desired text in the Description field. If you prefer not to show anything, leave the description blank or delete any existing text, then click Update.
Click Update to save.
How to Edit a Fee Type
To edit an existing Fee Type:
Navigate to the WordPress Menu > Products> Fee Types section.
Hover over the fee type and select Edit.
Modify either the name or the fee type description.
Click Update to save.
Reordering Fee Types on Member Invoices
You can control the order in which Fee Types appear on a member's invoice by dragging and dropping them within the list. Many clubs choose to display Initiation and Membership fees at the top, followed by items like Guest Fees, Late Fees, and other miscellaneous charges.
