Accept in-person card payments at your front desk or snack bar with a card reader connected to Member Splash through ECRYPT, from Preferred Payments.
Card readers work only with the ECRYPT payment gateway.
Readers are bought from Preferred Payments. They aren't included in your Member Splash fee, and there's no extra charge beyond the purchase price.
You can connect several readers and set a default for each station, for example one at the front desk and two at the snack bar.
Step 1: Get the Reader Online
Follow the instructions that came with your reader to power it on and connect it to the internet. Some connect wirelessly and others need an Ethernet cable. Once it's online, it shows a device code, much like adding a streaming app to a new TV.
Step 2: Add the Reader in ECRYPT
Log in to your ECRYPT dashboard.
Go to Settings → Terminal Settings → Device Management. If ECRYPT already connected your reader, it's listed here with a nickname and ID, and you can skip to Step 3.
Click + Terminal at the top right.
Enter a Nickname and the Device Registration Code shown on the reader. Leave the other settings as they are.
Click Activate New Device.
TIP: To rename a reader, delete it in Device Management and add it again with the new nickname.
Step 3: Refresh the List in Member Splash
Go to Finances → Credit Card Terminals and click Refresh. Your readers appear in Card or Table view. Click Refresh again any time you add, change, or remove a reader in ECRYPT.
Take a Card Payment
Once a reader is connected, you can choose it in two places:
The reader you choose stays the default at that station until you change it.
When you submit a card payment, it's sent to the reader:
The member swipes or taps their card, and the reader shows approved or declined. Member Splash updates 3–5 seconds after approval.
NOTE: If the payment fails or is cancelled, Member Splash shows an error and keeps the payment screen open so you can try again, choose another payment method, or cancel.
Look Up a Transaction
The ECRYPT transaction ID is saved with every successful card payment.
