With Installment Billing, your homeowners can pay their annual assessment in monthly installments instead of one large payment. The first payment is charged at checkout, and the rest are charged automatically to the same card. Your board no longer has to track partial payments or send reminders for each one.
How it works for your HOA
You choose the schedule on your assessment product, for example 12 monthly payments.
Each homeowner chooses at checkout whether to pay in full or in installments.
The total is split evenly with no interest. The online processing fee is included and spread across the payments.
Homeowners get a confirmation email with their full schedule, plus a reminder email 3 days before each monthly charge.
You track every plan under Finances > Recurring Billing.
Example setups
Schedule | Interval | Frequency | Total Number of Charges |
12 monthly payments | Months | 1 | 12 |
6 monthly payments | Months | 1 | 6 |
4 quarterly payments | Months | 3 | 4 |
2 payments, 6 months apart | Months | 6 | 2 |
For step by step instructions, see How to Set Up Installments on a Product.
Plan your timing
Each homeowner's schedule starts on the day they check out, not on a fixed date. If you want all payments finished by a certain date, open your assessment for payment early enough to fit every installment. For example, a 12 payment plan that starts in January ends in December.
Good to know
One item per plan. If a homeowner adds other items to the order, such as guest passes or amenity fees, those are set aside and must be purchased separately.
Plans cannot be edited after checkout. You can cancel a plan from Finances > Recurring Billing.
Changes only affect new plans. If you change the schedule on your assessment product, homeowners who already started a plan keep their original schedule.
Missed payments. A declined installment shows as Failed and the plan appears under the Past due tab.
Card only. Installments are available when paying by credit or debit card.
Let your homeowners know
Member Splash Support works with HOA admins, so homeowners with questions about their plan should contact your association. A short note in your assessment notice helps, for example:
This year you can pay your annual assessment in 12 monthly installments. When you pay online, choose Credit or Debit, then select Pay in 12 installments. Your first payment is charged today and the remaining payments are charged automatically to the same card each month. You will receive a reminder email 3 days before each payment.
