How to Build a Guest Pass / Credit Product

A detailed look at how to build a product that automatically adds guest pass(es) or credit(s) to an account after purchase.

A guest pass product adds guest credits to an account automatically when a member buys it. Members can buy credits ahead of time in their portal and use them at check-in, where credits are deducted based on your Guest Pass Rates.

⚠️ The Fee Type must be Guest Fee. Credits are only added for products with this fee type.

💡 Guest credits are a point based system. Each account has one guest credit balance. Member Splash can't tell apart different types of guest passes you sell, such as weekday vs weekend passes. Every guest pass product adds credits to the same balance, and check-in deducts credits based on your Guest Pass Rates. If some visits should cost more, sell one guest pass product and give those guests a higher credit rate (for example, 1 credit for a weekday guest and 2 credits for a weekend guest) instead of selling separate weekday and weekend passes.

Build a guest pass product

  1. Go to Finances > Products and click Add New.

  2. Enter a name and a description for your members.

  3. Set Fee Type to Guest Fee.

  4. In Flat Rate Pricing, enter the Price (for a book, the price of the whole book).

  5. In Guest Pass Options, set Number of Passes Per Book: 1 for a single pass, or 10 for a book of 10.

  6. Optional: in Product Options, check Show Quantity Option? so members can buy several at once, and set a Maximum Quantity.

  7. Click Publish. Rules usually aren't needed, since guest passes are typically for everyone.

How many credits are added

Credits added = quantity bought × Number of Passes Per Book. For example, buying 3 books of 10 adds 30 credits. All credits land in the account's single guest credit balance, no matter which guest pass product was purchased. At check-in, Member Splash checks the balance, so an account can't go below zero.
