Text messaging lets Premium clubs send timely club notices, like closures, weather and safety alerts, straight to members' phones. Members choose whether to get texts, and every text is screened to keep it about running the club.
💡 Text messaging is available on the Premium plan. Interested in upgrading? Visit membersplash.com/upgrade.
Where to find it
Communications > Text Messaging: send texts and manage your audience, with three tabs: Messages, Segments and Subscribers.
Settings > Text Messaging: set your text prefix, quiet hours and opt-in wording, and review the texting rules.
Who can use it
Board and Manager admins have access to text messaging by default. To change which roles can send texts, go to Admin > User Roles, select the role and turn Text Messaging on or off. Learn more in About Admin User Roles and Capabilities.
Key things to know
Members are never auto-enrolled. Only members who have opted in are ever sent a text.
Texts are for running the club. Closures, weather, safety, hours, events, reservations, membership and renewals are fine. Promotions, fundraising, sponsors and other marketing are not.
Texts only go out between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM in your club's time zone. Emergency weather or safety alerts are the one exception.
Every send is confirmed with a one-time code.
Texts come from a Member Splash number. Your club can't choose or change the number texts are sent from. Every text starts with your club's prefix, so members always know who it's from.
⚠️ Breaking the texting rules can pause your club's texting. Phone carriers block texts that break the rules, and one violation can pause your club's texting while it's reviewed. If it isn't about running the club, don't send it.
Text messaging or push notifications?
Push notifications also send alerts to members' phones, but only to members who use the Member Splash app. Texts reach members without the app, and you can schedule them or send them to a single member. To compare the two and decide when to use each one, see Push Notifications vs. Text Messaging: Which Should I Use?
