Donation Product - User Defined Pricing

A detailed look at how to build a donation product that allows your members to determine the amount they want to donate.

A User Defined Price product lets members choose how much they pay. The most common example is a donation. For general product setup, see the Flat Rate Pricing overview.

Create the Product

  • Go to Finances > Products and click the Add New tab.

  • Enter the name (as it should appear on the member's bill) and the description.

  • Select a Fee Type. We recommend adding a new fee type for this product, for example Donation. See Create a New Fee Type.

Set the User Defined Price

  • Scroll down to the User Defined Price box.

Note: Use only one pricing option per product. Do not fill in both Flat Rate Pricing and User Defined Price. The pricing options are Flat Rate Pricing, Per Member Pricing, Age & Member Type Based Pricing, House Guest Options, and User Defined Price.

  • Check User Defined Price. This is the right choice in almost every case.

  • Only check Admin Only if the product should be hidden from members. Admin Only products show only on the Finances > Offline Payment screen, so this is rarely used.

Leave Show / Hide / Require Rules Blank

  • Scroll down to Show / Hide / Require Rules and leave Apply Rules unchecked.

  • With no rules, the donation shows on every account at all times, so members can donate whenever they like.

What Members See

  • On the invoice, the member can enter any amount they want to donate.
