Flat rate pricing charges every account the same fixed amount, no matter how many people are on the account. It is the simplest and most common pricing method.
What is Flat Rate Pricing?
Every account pays the exact same amount, whether it has 2 people or 10.
Examples: Maintenance & Activity Fee ($100 per account), Capital Assessment Fee ($250 per account), Parking Pass ($50 per account), Locker Rental ($75 per account), Social Event Ticket ($25 per ticket).
When to Use Flat Rate Pricing
Choose Flat Rate when:
The fee is the same for everyone.
The fee is not based on the number of people.
The fee is not based on member ages or types.
You want the simplest setup.
Don't use Flat Rate when:
Families with more people should pay more → use Per Member Pricing.
Different ages or member types have different rates → use Age & Member Type Based Pricing.
Members should name their own price → use User Defined Price.
Before You Begin
What is the charge for? For example a maintenance fee, locker rental, or event ticket.
Which fee type should it use? Fee types control how products behave and display. See Start Here: Fee Types.
How much will you charge? Enter whole numbers without dollar signs.
Who should see this product? All accounts, specific account types, or accounts with certain tags.
Step 1: Create the Product
Go to Finances > Products and click Add New.
Enter the Product Name. Members see this on their bill (for example "2025 Maintenance & Activity Fee").
Enter a description in the main text box. Members see this.
In the Fee Type box, select the fee type.
Step 2: Set the Flat Rate Price
Scroll down to the pricing sections. Each pricing method is its own section: Flat Rate Pricing, Per Member Pricing, Age & Member Type Based Pricing, House Guest Options, and User Defined Price.
In Flat Rate Pricing, enter the amount in Price (no dollar sign). Example: enter
100for $100.00.
🚨Critical Rule: Use only ONE pricing method per product. Do not enter values in more than one pricing section (for example both Flat Rate AND Per Member). Leave the others blank.
Step 3: Configure Display Rules (Optional)
If the product should only appear for some accounts, scroll to Show / Hide / Require Rules and turn on Apply Rules.
Choose a Rule Action:
Show: product appears as optional.
Require: product is pre-selected so it is included in the payment.
Disable: listed, but the payment page does not currently act on it. Use Show, Require, or Hide.
Hide: product is hidden from matching accounts.
Common rules: show only to specific account types, require for all accounts, show only to accounts with specific tags.
Note: A rule with no value selected is ignored. The products list shows an Issues badge and the edit screen shows a warning until you fix it.
Step 4: Publish or Save as Draft
Click Publish to make the product available now.
Click Save Draft to finish later.
Once published, the product appears on member accounts based on your rules.
Testing Your Product
Create or use a test account (First Name: Test, Last Name: Test).
Set the test account to the right account type.
Go to Membership > Accounts, click ... on the test account, and choose Switch to.
Go to Make a Payment.
Check that the product appears with the right price.
If collecting payment, process a test transaction and refund it.
Using Price Variations
In Flat Rate Pricing, use Price Variations to raise or lower the price by Account Type, Account Tag, or Date Range. Use a negative Amount for a discount (for example -40.00).
Example: Early Payment Discount: regular price $500; $450 if paid before March 1; $550 if paid after April 15.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I change the price after publishing?
Yes. Edit the product and update the price. The new price applies going forward, but existing unpaid charges on member accounts still show the old price until updated manually. See Changing Pricing on Existing Products.
Can one product have multiple prices?
Every account pays the same base price. If you need different prices:
Create separate products for different prices.
Use Age & Member Type Based Pricing instead.
Use Price Variations for account type, tag, or date-based pricing.
What's the difference between a product and a fee type?
Fee types are categories (like Membership Fee or Guest Fee). Products are the actual charges (like "2025 Family Membership" or "Parking Pass"). One fee type can have many products.
Can an account purchase more than one membership product?
No. If several products use the Membership Fee fee type (slug: membership-fee), an account can only buy one of them. This prevents duplicate memberships. For different membership tiers, create separate products with this fee type and use Show / Hide / Require Rules to control which accounts see each one.
